Modern budget hotel in a converted office building in a prime location with bright functional yet antique style and relaxed atmosphere. The bedrooms are spacious and spare, though their quality feels (large towels and decent toiletries) while the staff is accommodating.
One minute from High Street, its shops and cafes, and two minutes from the tree-lined promenade, with its smarter boutiques and bars. It’s hard to be more central, but it’s on a quiet, primarily residential street. Everything is walkable, including the famous city parks, the Pittville Pump Room, and, along the way, the station and racetrack (25 minutes) – although there’s also a bus to the latter, a five-minute walk away.
This can be a budget hotel, but it far exceeds its weight in terms of service. The small reception team is welcoming and hard-working, willingly solving problems from broken luggage and breakfast system issues to the fastest route to destinations where to catch the bus. It creates an atmosphere where guests start chatting while having breakfast or in the lounge bar. Dogs are welcome (£10 per night), and guests can use the pool and gym – Cheltenham Women’s College, not less! – At reduced rates.

The food is not what this place is about but what it offers is well above average for a budget chain. The self-service breakfast includes fruit, cereal, yogurt, and pastries, plus a small selection of cooked items – vegan sausages, too, if you know.
A menu of simple dishes can be eaten all day, from garlic bread and Panini toast to cottage pie and pizza (mainstream average £8.50), as you choose: from the fun-filled dining room with its rose-colored tables to the lounge or your room. The bar has a modest and well-priced selection of bottled beers, spirits, and handfuls of wine.
Queens Hotel
Dating back to 1838, this curvy building splendidly presides over the heart of Cheltenham. It is now an elegant and comfortable place where many period features have been carefully preserved. From the sleek tea lounge to the 84 large bedrooms, it offers a great sense of style and space.
A neoclassical landmark, Queens was one of Britain’s first purpose-built hotels and proudly occupied a prime location in central Cheltenham. Montpellier’s elegant shops are close by, and the Imperial Gardens, home to the city’s many festivals (literature, science, and art), is right across. Cheltenham Racecourse, where some of the country’s most important horse racing events occur, is a 10-minute taxi ride north. Cheltenham Spa station is about a mile to the west.
Nestled between the laid-back vibe of Hotel du Vin down the road and the trendy ambiance of 131 next door, Queens, is a relaxed setting with excellent service. During the week, they are primarily oriented to the business market; On weekends, it can be crowded, especially during Cheltenham’s horse racing events and many of the city’s festivals. However, this is also a prominent attraction for the locals, who come for coffee, afternoon tea and roast dinner Chelterham in the elegant lounge. There is a car park (£12 per day), a big bonus in the heart of Cheltenham and a small garden terrace. In this listed building, adding other recreational facilities was impossible, but guests can exit the road to the pool and gym at Cheltenham Women’s College (free of charge).

Cotswold Grange Hotel
This elegant, well-priced hotel in Cheltenham is a quiet find: a small family-run operation with comfortable, elegant furnishings and a pleasant restaurant. It is located in the early 19th-century mansion on the leafy street near the city center.
The property is opposite the gorgeous green Pittville Circus in the classic upscale Cheltenham neighborhood. Yet, the shops, cafés, and restaurants of the pedestrianized heart of the city are a 10-minute walk away. Cheltenham Spa Station is approximately 12 minutes by taxi. It takes about 12 minutes to get out of town and into the Cotswold countryside in the east.
The 20 rooms are elegantly decorated in soft colors – brown, green, and cream. The smaller standard doubles are located on the lower ground floor and are spacious enough to accommodate a desk. The larger rooms on the second and third floors have comfortable chairs – and one features a modern four-poster. The beds are covered with high-quality pure linens.
All rooms are equipped with kettles, tea, coffee, and Fair-Trade brownies. The bathrooms are stocked with La Sultane de Saba soap and shampoo made with argan oil. The smaller rooms have walk-in showers; larger rooms have separate bathtubs and showers.
